Usse creates improvised music within a structural framework, exploring the intersectionality of motion, mechanics and timber. In the vein of soundmaking aesthetics relating to free jazz and free music, nowave and post-punk, and the 'krautrock' era of German music, the desire is to explore common interests of spontaneity, play, tension, time and space. Instrumentation is rooted in drum and bass, accompanied by synthesizer, guitar, saxophone, and percussion, alternating between voice, instrumental and found sound related compositions. At once both concrete and kosmiche in nature, the music ranges from taught, stuttering rhythmic selections, to the more abstract, oblique and opaque. With interests in the political as well as creative act, the intention is to create exploratory sonic spaces in which to discuss and confront structures of privilege and power.
