Claire Shiplett is an emerging writer, performance artist and photographer. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and has studied fine art media and performance at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, UK. Claire often works in durational performance installations incorporating experimental film, text and the body and utilizes both choreographed and improvisational gesture and speech. She is interested in the body as a communicator and initiator, in how we occupy both real and imagined space, in collective and personal memory, in creating interventions and transitional place, in re-enactment, repetition and recollection, and in performance as a means of abstract storytelling. Claire moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick in 2014, where she works as Programs Officer at the New Brunswick Arts Board and formerly as Project Manager for Craft NB.
